Is Healthcare A Right Or A Privilege?

The UN Declaration of Human Rights - Read It! Article 25!
There are both legal and moral precedents for considering health care a right in the United States.

Morally and philosophically, we happen to agree with the core of America's founding documents and to believe that every person has the right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. In line with these high beliefs, health is the biggest determinant of the ability to possess and enjoy these rights.

Furthermore, we now know econometrically that health, as a variable, is a bigger correlative driver of economic welfare than any factor except education.

It is for these reasons that we see education, health and civil liberty as the three fundamental rights of every human being.

While we could expand on the basic notions above for pages and pages, we believe these succinct but clear arguments articulate our entire ideology as to every person deserving health coverage.

The nice thing, however, is that we don't need to. America is legally obligated to give every person in our country healthcare.

If you either disagree with our moral arguments or think they are meaningless, we will bind you to the American right for Universal Healthcare with indisputable legal argument.

Healthcare is a guaranteed right of every American because of our country's signature on two binding documents.

In 1948, America signed the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  Article 25 of that document states that:

"Everyone has the right to a standard of living adequate for the health and well-being of himself and of his family, including food, clothing, housing and medical care and necessary social services, and the right to security in the event of unemployment, sickness, disability, widowhood, old age or other lack of livelihood in circumstances beyond his control."

In 1977, the US signed the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights. This covenant recognizes "the right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health."  Implementation of this covenant includes the creation of conditions which would assure to all medical service and medical attention in the event of sickness.

Enjoy your rights. America has already signed for them.

In happy amusement,
